HOW TO DESIGN FOR SHIRTS
That's easy, keep it simple! If you look around you'll notice that the best designed and most memorable custom printed shirts are typically a standard size print (front center chest) with 1 or 2, maybe 3 ink colors. The actual design is created so that the printed ink works well with the shirt color, and doesn't look or wear like a bulky shield.
If printing on lighter weight, softer fabric shirts it's really important to design your art/logo so that it is a compliment to the shirt style and feel. This means thinner lines and dark inks on lighter colored garments.
Last, always remember that you are designing something that will be printed on a shirt that you hope other people will want to wear over and over. This way you can maximize the message/idea you want to spread through that design!
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ARTWORK
Most screen printers these days (ourselves included) use software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to prepare artwork for the printing process. It is super helpful if you create and submit your design with the same software, too. Plus, it will save you money because we won't have to charge art fees in order to recreate the artwork for printing your order.
Best File Types
- Adobe Illustrator (.ai) with text converted to outlines
- Encapsulated Postscript (.eps)
- Vector PDF (.pdf) typically exported from Illustrator
Acceptable File Types
- Adobe Photoshop (.psd) at 300dpi resolution and sized to final print dimensions
- High-Res JPEG (.jpeg) at 300dpi resolution and sized to final print dimensions
